The river stones were polished into various random forms by the force of the flowing waters of the rolling Dadu River, and then picked up by the stonemasons from the shallows of the riverbed, and polished into one or two grooves by the man-made force of the lathe and the drilling machine. The stones are thus naturally made into an object, and then artificially made into a vessel. We grind one additional groove in the back of the stone, in order to fix them in one same situation where they can come together and be gazed at once at the different results of different forces, times, and purposes occurring on a similar object.
